A little part of my story…

It is a rare thing to bring passion to the business of living. Yet, to live by a calling to something beyond ourselves means to search for a fuel that is higher octane than efficiency, pragmatism, and safety. I intent to share what I love, what I hate, and what I am up to and I hope that we can find a new connection, a meaningful conversation, and new horizon.

  • I think that life with God at the wheel is a way better version than when I have control
  • I was born in Fairfax, Virginia, just outside of Washington DC
  • I met my wife when I was in 7th grade and she was in 6th grade.  We weren't married until 15 years later.  We've been married for 11 years, and it is getting better and better.
  • I play one video game and one video game only:  NCAA Football 2005.  I have won 5 national championships and about a dozen Heisman trophies for the "Rosslyn Clones"–Ross picked the name, calls the plays, and designed the uniforms
  • I believe that we must serve where we are gifted, and serve where we are not gifted
  • I have three kids: and artist (Elle), a Jester (Mack), and a fierce but noble dictator (Ross)
  • I believe that a lot of things are able to assign us value, but only One matters
  • I have on older brother and a younger sister
  • My favorite book is "Into The Wild".  I read it once every other year
  • I spent 11 years working at a great American company, ADP.  And I regularly convinced myself that "passion for a career" is a luxury not a necessity…I'm glad I was wrong
  • In summers, to help with the cost of college, I sold educational books door-to-door in amazing places like Berwick, PA; Meridian, MS; Searcy, Arkansas; and Story County Iowa.
  • I once asked myself what I would do with  my life if money were no option.  The first time, I answered "packaging engineer" (which would be awesome) but God changed my mind brought up the idea that I should equip challenge and care for His Church
  • I went to college at Miami University.
  • I have a hopelessly romantic desire for a better tomorrow.  And I belive God for it
  • I've run two marathons (5:48 and 4:14) and five official half marathons.
  • I believe in freedom.  And I think a life with God gets a bad rap on this one.  He doesn't restrict or confine or limit our humanity.  He enriches, explodes, and radically heightens what it means to be human.
  • I studied in Florence Italy.  One of my classes was a walking tour of Renaissance Florence.  I got an "A"
  • Movies I'm proud to like:  Shawshank Redemption, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, American History X, Usual Suspects, Godfather 2, Payback, Hangover, Remember the Titans, Unforgiven, 3:10 to Yuma, The Mexican
  • Movies I am not proud that I like:  A League of Their Own, Soul Food, Where the Heart is,
